Should public school funding be used to help poor families move to better school districts? Back in March 2011, we talked to Abell Foundation president Robert Embry, who wrote an op-ed in the Baltimore Sun raising this prospect. The op-ed was based in part on this Century Foundation report, and we interviewed Embry shortly after it came out ("Know Housing Policy, Know School Policy").

The argument over whether housing policy is an essential context for school policy continues. On Monday, September 3, Maryland Morning senior producer Lawrence Lanahan came across this sign at an elementary school in Catonsville, which makes quite explicit the connection between housing and schooling.
